Billy Markus, new Coinbase ad who co-founded the popular joke cryptocurrency Dogecoin with Jackson Palmer in 2013, is now an active user of the X social media site (formerly known as Twitter) and an influencer for his 2.1 million followers.
Markus talks on a variety of issues, ranging from cryptocurrency to politics. In today’s tweet, he expressed his thoughts on Coinbase’s new YouTube video advertisement. He also expressed a perspective, possibly surprising to some members of the crypto community, concerning crypto failing to meet the expectations that were set for it.
New Coinbase Ad complimented by DOGE co-founder
Markus described the new Coinbase advertisement “Break the Cycle” as “interesting,” noting that it explains why many individuals are adopting cryptocurrency, particularly recently. He goes on to say: “The system is failing for them and they look for alternatives.”
Markus went on to say that this advertisement portrays anti-crypto senator Elizabeth Warren and politicians like her who are also attempting to prevent crypto from transforming the United States and the global financial system as “enemies of the people.”
Crypto failed to live up to goal set for it, Markus believes
Billy Markus also discussed why cryptocurrency was founded in the first place and if it has succeeded in that purpose. He reminded the audience that crypto (implying Bitcoin) was created as a “direct response to the financial crisis of 2007 and all the corruption that led up to it.”
However, Markus believes that neither Bitcoin nor cryptocurrency in general has “lived up to its promise,” though he admits that this is “up for debate.”
